Merritt-Harrison Catering Consultancy has wide experience in assisting clients from a range of public sector organisations throughout the UK and in Europe, including government departments, agencies, and local authorities.

We provide a high quality and cost effective service, advising and supporting clients in all areas of food and associated services. We can advise on staff and visitor catering, and hospitality.

We are conversant with and appreciate the requirements of The Public Contracts Regulations 2006.

All our consultants understand the official/elected representative relationship, committee procedures and the decision-making process within the public sector.

Projects undertaken by Merritt-Harrison include:

  • support to central government bodies, assisting with all aspects of catering policy and strategy, including tendering and monitoring of catering services, analysis of financial information, and advice on kitchen and restaurant design
  • food procurement study and efficiency audit of catering services across education, government and healthcare sectors for a national public body
  • ongoing quality and financial monitoring of catering and hospitality services for a government executive agency
  • operational and financial review and implementation of catering strategy for a multi-site public sector organisation
  • advice on procurement of catering and event management suppliers for a city council’s leisure department
  • quality and health and safety monitoring of staff catering and hospitality, along with catering strategy development for an enterprise council
